Global Graphene Group Adding a Registered Patent Agent to Team

DAYTON, OHIO, November 5, 2019 – Intellectual property is at the core of Global Graphene Group, Inc.’s success as a leader in the graphene industry. Global Graphene Group (G3) drives innovation in graphene manufacturing processes, from filing the first patent on graphene in 2002 to today’s expansive IP portfolio of 430 U.S. patents and 150 international patents and counting. Kurt Jacobs, an Intellectual Property Engineer at G3, recently passed the U.S.P.T.O Registration exam, commonly known as the patent bar. This will enable him to practice in patent cases before the Patent and Trademark Office. The patent bar is a difficult exam, with a pass rate of 47.2% in 2018*. Jacobs will now be able to file and prosecute patent applications, and draft patent applications for the company.

“Global Graphene Group’s R&D scientists average six to ten patent applications filed per month,” says Bob Crouch, G3’s Director of Intellectual Property. “I am excited to have Kurt’s role at G3 expand to handle more of our company’s patent work. Kurt worked very hard to study for this exam, and passing the exam is a great personal accomplishment for him.”

“I have been very fortunate to find these opportunities at G3, being able to work on both the R&D, and IP sides of the business has given me an exciting insight into the forefront of the industry,” says Kurt Jacobs. “It is exciting to have a role in the development and protection of our technology. And it is exciting to see what will happen next.”

Jacobs, a 2017 Ohio State University alumnus, received a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering before joining Global Graphene Group. He has worked as an engineer at G3 since 2017, developing and scaling a continuous graphene oxide production method, in research and development for graphene applications and working on G3’s silicon anode production. He transitioned to G3’s Intellectual Property team in October 2018.
